Chez Shell, we do have a piano and Ella has played kitten on the keys a couple of times {once late at night and scared the bejeezus out of me !} ~ but it's of the grand piano variety, not this one. Sometime soon, I might be tempted to recreate something along the lines of Michelle Pfeiffer in The Fabulous Baker Boys ~ and perhaps even illustrate it. Today's inspiration, however, keeps us in the here and now with Karlie Kloss in Delpozo {by Patrick Demarchelier for Glamour magazine}.

Any suggestions as to our playlist while we see how many upright pianos we can squeeze into one Parisian apartment {with balcony}? There's also a pianola in the corner if anyone wants to work off their miniature salted caramel scrolls and champagne. And on that note ...

Pastel Daydreams : A French Bulldog Pup in Prada Wonderland

Holy sugar rush, Batman ! I think gelato was flavour of the month at Prada ahead of their Fall/Winter 2015 showing ~ and I, for one, am passing around the candied high fives.

I might possibly have eaten my body weight in sweetheart lollies in preparation for illustrating this one. Or maybe I just imagined it. One could be forgiven for thinking there's a touch of Willy Wonka going on here ~ but Alice in Wonderland is more my cup of tea so let's run with that, per favore. The Cheshire Cat was preoccupied with steeping organic edible rose petals for the Mad Hatter, so our little French bulldog pup has come along for the party. Full length gloves are in order for such an occasion ~ and don't feel obligated to choose pistachio as your gelato flavour. Everyone's favourite is available. And on that note ...

In celebration of Autumn here in Brisbane, I'll turn my gaze towards the Northern Hemisphere and the arrival of Spring in Paris, which is pending according to astronomical parameters but already in place according to meteorological ones. {Don't ask me why ~ I'm neither astronomist nor meterologist, though know a thing or two about being a Sagittarius. Maybe we need a groundhog to weigh in on things ...}

Today's fashion illustration is inspired by an image of Australian fashion blogger Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Girl. Forgive me for occasionally omitting our signature kitty mascot or a puppy dog ~ they usually find their way into my illos, but sometimes they pull the Greta Garbo card. {Don't we all ?!} I have matching cashmere cardigans stashed strategically behind bushes in case the bare arms are premature. Bunches of flowers for all of us and we're set to go. And on that note ...

Paris Daydreams : Agent Violet at Le Meurice

Today's Paris fashion illustration is inspired by this image from the Le Meurice hotel to mark Paris fashion week.

Show me a trench coat and I see a detective ~ or a secret agent. I inevitably google up kickboxing and martial arts classes when I'm home after a night wearing one. Then the espresso wears off and I do yoga instead. Maybe I can catch a potential adversary off guard with a sudden Lord of the Dance pose in the meantime.

Agent Violet, on the other hand, has mastered the art of disarming with a glance instead. I like her style. She has some openings for apprentices ~ do we have any takers? And on that note ...

Seems there's no such thing as excess baggage charges Chez Shell. Praise the Lord and pass me another trunk.

Where is our fashion illustration whisking us off to this weekend? Navy is nautical but that's by no means a hint. Classic neutrals are at home anywhere in my book, and Paris is as fetching a destination as any. Or ... is there someplace else that sets your heart a-racing?

Our jaunty harlequin-inspired hat box {known in the kitty smuggling trade as 'the package'} lends a spot of derring-do ~ perish the thought that we be predictable ! And on that note ...

Throwback Thursday: Ruffled Vintage Glam

I haven't yet scored Chanel at my local animal welfare thrift shops, but I have been lucky with a Max Mara shirt dress. Much as I tried, I had to concede gingham is not really my best friend so I donated it back to make an animal-loving gingham-fancier's day. But I scored a keeper in a black Lacroix knit with ribbon ties in strategic places so I can gift-wrap myself for our Hugh or his fun and fetching doppelgänger when he dances along with pet dogs in tow.

On the heels of last week's vintage Dior, today's fashion illustration is very loosely inspired by vintage Chanel and Christy Turlington back in the 90s. I took a lot of poetic licence with the top, as it just looked black, black and black to me. I don't wear much black while the sun is up nowadays, but come nightfall, I'm still a helpless schmuck for its bewitching siren call. Perhaps you'd like yours in deep purple, cafe au lait or charcoal-grey? Pop behind the screen and when you're ready, we'll match our ruffles with gold-foiled truffles. {The chocolate kind ~ not the pig-snuffled kind.} And on that note ...
